An Augmented Reality storytelling project that brings to its various audience an experience of learning about the world’s favorite lunch box fruit in a more fun way.

Features: Fun and relatable information from personal health and nutrition to cultural and scientific knowledge on bananas, interactive informatics that dynamically connects the audience to the banana information, image recognition powered by machine learning which will provide an access point to the experience within the audiences’ everyday life.

BANANOLOGY is


“BANANOLOGY” is an Augmented Reality education content that brings to its various audience educational experiences on bananas, the world’s most loved and widespread fruit. Throughout the experience, the audience will receive various ranges of information from the topic of health and nutritional effect to global culture and the environmental effect of bananas. In a form of dynamic and fun informatics that the audience can easily understand and relate themselves to, “BANANOLOGY” will help its audience learn about their, and their friends and family’s favorite lunch box fruit in a more fun way.

Is banana special?


Yes! Bananas are one of the most widely spread fruits worldwide and are loved by every generation of people. B ananas is the most consumed fresh fruit in the United States. According to the statistic report by Statista, in the US, banana takes 28 percent of the whole fresh food consumption per person. 
Can we make information and data on Bananas interesting and fun? And can we make this fun and interesting learning experience on our favorite lunch box fruit become bridges that bring communication and understandings between people?

“BANANOLOGY” is a design-driven project seeking to open up a fun way of education for not only generation Z but also anyone who uses social media and mobile devices. Fun and relatable information that ranges from personal health and nutrition to cultural and scientific knowledge on bananas is visualized and presented in the forms of interactive infographics and card news. The information BANANOLOGY will present to its audience can be largely grouped into 3 branches:
  1. Health and nutrition facts. Bananas are rich in potassium and magnesium which are crucial for a healthy life. 
  2. Global culture around bananas. As banana is one of the most widespread fruits around the world, there are very interesting ways that bananas are being used or cooked. For example, banana fried with dark sugar, fish steamed inside banana leaves, and all the goodness.
  3. Biological, botanical facts. Bananas have not been always the same. The banana we buy from the local grocery store is different from the bananas 50 years ago, and wild bananas found in jungles have several large pits inside them. (Also, there are pink-colored bananas as well.)
There are a lot more information and data about bananas that will be shared throughout the whole experience.
